Na początek powiem, że jestem zupełnie zielony i z linuxem nie miałem właściwie nigdy styczności. :blush:
Ściągnołem linuxa SimplyMEPIS 7.0, nagrałem obraz na płytkę i udało się odpalić linuxa..., ale tylko w trybie tekstowym, co prawda podczas logowania pisze, że klikając na ctrl+alt+F7 lub F8 można przejść na tryb graficzny, ale to nie daje, żadnych efektów, a po zalogowaniu i wpisaniu komendy startx wyskakuje błąd:Próbowałem też w trybie tekstowym zainstalować MAPIS'a wpisując minstall, ale niestety wtedy występował błąd:cannot connect to x server
Wie ktoś jak rozwiązać ten problem?

Po pierwsze, używasz bardzo starej wersji Xorg sprzed ponad dwóch lat. Być może nie potrafi ona poradzić sobie sama z wykryciem modelu sprzętu i położenia na szynie.
Zachowaj sobie tym razem kopię tego xorg.conf z ustawieniami dla vesy, byś mógł do niej wrócić. Kopnij ten oryginalny na swoje miejsce, ale odkomentuj w nim linię
(tzn. usuń # z początku, by serwer mógł to interpretować).
Z logu wynika jednak, że serwer sam znalazł w tym miejscu kartę

, więc nie wiem czy ręczne wpisanie cokolwiek wniesie.
Nie wiem, co z tym "unknown chipset" - może warto sięgnąć do man nv, by zobaczyć czy Twój model jest wspierany. Chociaż... do man nie trzeba, bo niżej w logu jest cała lista wspieranych modeli.
P.S. Plik xorg.conf odczytywany jest oczywiście podczas startu Xorg. Dla odczytu nie musisz restartować maszyny, a np. tylko skrypt (jedną z tzw. usług w init.d) startowy uruchamiający menedżera logowania:
/etc/init.d/skrypt_menedżera_logowania restart
albo zamiast restart dać stop, a potem jeszcze raz (z trybu tekstowego) start. Skryptem może być gdm, kdm, xdm albo jeszcze coś.
Po pierwsze, używasz bardzo starej wersji Xorg sprzed ponad dwóch lat. Być może nie potrafi ona poradzić sobie sama z wykryciem modelu sprzętu i położenia na szynie.
Mam linuxa SimplyMEPIS 7.0, a to chyba najnowsza wersja MEPISA wydana w grudniu 2007r., więc dziwne, że ma starą wersje Xorg. :(
Zrobiłem tak jak radziłeś i po zostaniu na sterach vesa nic sie nie zmieniło, po zmianie na stery vga xserver sie odpalał, ale tylko z głebią kolorów 4-bity(jak ustawiałem na więcej to tak jak wcześniej-"no screens found"), a przy próbach ustawienia sterów na nv, także no screens found :(
Wrzucę jeszcze xorg.cong i Xorg.0.log, po odpaleniu na vga(przy kolorach 4-bity):

W między czasie próbowałem, coś zrobić z netem na linuxie, żeby nie skakać miedzy linuxem, a windowsem jak muszę coś na necie znaleźć i żeby móc jakieś uaktualnienia pościągać, ale niestety moje próby zakończyły się nie powodzeniem.
Mam połaczenie z netem przez kablówkę i karte sieciową Attansic L1 Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000Base-T Controller zintegrowana z płytą główną ASUS P5B VM-SE.

Natknołem się również na stronę z driverami pod linuxa dla tej karty, która jest tutaj (http://www.hogchain.net/attansic/attansic.html) i ściągnołem wersje dla kernela 2.6.22.x, ponieważ czytałem, że takiego ma simplyMepis 7.0, po czym próbowałem zainstalować te sterowniki ze źródła, ale wtedy pojawiał się błąd:

Sieć na linuxie bardzo by mi pomogła w rozwiązywaniu reszty moich problemów.....

Do zainstalowania tego drugiego potrzebne są źródła jądra. Ty masz tylko pracującą binarkę. Zainstaluj kod źródłowy wersji jądra, którego używasz.
Próbowałem to zrobić, przekopałem cały internet i nie udało mi sie zainstalować jądra, przy próbie instalacji z kodu źródłowego wyskakuje masa błędów, doczytałem się, że to wina, że nie mam jakiś tam pakietów, ale przy próbie instalacji tych pakietów też wyskakują błędy, a przy próbie instalowania tych pakietów z plików .deb wyskakują jakieś konflikty z innymi pakietami, również znalazłem jądra w wersji .deb do zainstalowania i instalacja pliku linux-source-numer_wersji i linux-image-numer-wersji sie powiodły, a przy próbie instalacji linux-headers-numer_wersji znowu jakieś konflikty, których próby rozwiązania, również kończą się nie powodzeniem, a po tak nie do końca zaktualizowanym jądrze przy starcie systemu pojawia się komunikat:

Gdyby był net(z tego co czytałem po zainstalowaniu nowszego kernela będzie) to wszytko by było łatwiejsze wtedy jakby brakowało jakiegoś pakietu to tylko apt-get install i gitara i właśnie w tym problem, że w większości poradników jak zainstalować jądro występuje apt-get install.
