Jeśli podłączam urządzenie zewnętrzne na które mogę przegrać dane jak Pendrive. To jak mam się dowiedzieć co w katalogu /dev symbolizuje to urządzenie?

Przeglądając /dev po prostu.
Zazwyczaj jest to /dev/sd* np sda1

A nie ma jakieś możliwości żeby być tego pewnym? Kurcze to jest w końcu linux nie...

Generalnie jak podlaczasz tego typu urzadzenie to w wiekszosci dystrybucji takie urzadzenie montuje sie automatycznie a na pulpicie powinna pojawic ci sie ikona podlaczonego urzadzenia, wowczas wystarczy na nia kliknac.

Zawsze mozna tez sprawdzic pod jaka nazwa pojawia sie dane urzadzenie poleceniem 'dmesg' wpisanym w konsoli tuz po podlaczeniu urzadzenia.

Ekstra dzięki bardzo fajnie że się tak da. Co mam zrobić jeśli żadnej informacji o USB tam nie ma? Gentoo mam uruchomione przez VMware-a. Da się jakoś sprawdzić czy w ogóle ten program do wirtualizacji udostępnia linuxowi USB?

czyli są porty dla dwóch szyn (to pewnie wymaga poprawki) USB, które prawdopodobnie zobaczysz również za pomocą lspci. Podepnij pendrajwa i zobacz czy dmesgowi przybyły nowe komunikaty. Ostatnie np. 40 linijek możesz dostać poleceniem tail
dmesg | tail -n 40
Jeśli chcesz na bieżąco (np. co sekundę) monitorować zmiany dmesga, możesz i tak:
watch -n 1 'dmesg | tail -30'
albo
sudo tail -f /var/log/messages
- ten plik ma szanse dostawać na bieżąco linijki z dmesg.

Jeśli chodzi o te dwie szyny to niekoniecznie bo mam w kompie 8 wyjść USB, więc jeśli na jednej jest 6 a na drugiej 2 to jest to całkiem możliwe.

Wiem już na pewno że kompletnie nic się nie dzieje kiedy wtykam pendrive. Nie jest to raczej wina VMWare'a, bo odpalałem kiedyś Ubuntu na nim i USB działało. Teraz w jego ustawieniach sprawdziłem i niby przepuszcza USB. Zastanawiam się co prawda czy może to być wina VMWare tools których nie moge zainstalować.

- Kiedy pyta się mnie o katalog init to wymaga żeby były w nich katalog rc0.d do rc6.d, których nie ma. Na forum gentoo.org znalazłem informację żeby zainstalować z emerge "app-emulation/vmware-workstation", ale mimo jego instalacji ( która trwała 6 godzin - sic! ) nie mogę dalej tych vmware tools zainstalować z tego samego powodu.

Nie znam się na linuxach, ale myślę że może to być po prostu wina braku tych VMWare Tools. Chyba że macie inne pomysły?

Zainstalowałem VMware Tool i niestety nadal bez zmian. Jednak to nie ich brak był przyczyną.

Musiałem zainstalować openSuse żeby mnie olśniło że jeszcze trzeba włączyć USB w menu VMWare, bo oczywiście zaznaczenie opcji "Automatically connect new USB devices" w opcjach maszyny wirtualnej nic kompletnie nie daje...

W każdym razie pojawił mi się pendravie w katalogu /dev pod nazwą sdb

Może skonfiguruj sobie udev, tak aby urządzenia przenośne zawsze miały takie same oznaczenie. Lekturka do poczytania poniżej.

Odświerzam temat, bo wystąpił drobny problem o którym niejako wspomniał ~roobal w poście wyżej. Mianowicie po odłączeniu USB i ponownym jego podłączeniu system nie wyczyścił mi poprzedniego podłączenia USB i teraz zamiast sdb ten sam Pen ma oznaczenie sdc. Jak mu wyczyścić hmm "pamięć" o tym urządzeniu żeby podłączał je znowu jako sdb?

W Nauitilusie w Opcjach w zakładce nośniki jest pozycja przeglądaj po odmontowaniu nośnika - może to coś miesza.


@roobal - takie coś to miałem jak miałem włączone skalowanie częstotliwości - raz na ruski miesiąc musiał się zwiesić:)
