Wine problems

Hi all,
first of all - Im new to this forum so forgive me if Im posting my problem in wrong place or something similar has already been posted (though I've searched a bit before posting this).
So, I have just installed new PCLOS 2010 and I was wondering how will it do with one of mine windows games.
I've successfully installed my Fifa 09 and... yeah, what's next? I mean I have the icon on the desktop and everything , just when I click it it thinks for a while and nothing happens, there's no error info, no crash...
Im new to Linux and it's not like I have to run games on it to be happy with it, but It would be nice...

If you see completely nothing it don't mean you have to patch it, anyway good idea.
Actually you have to run it from terminal emulator (like xterm or konsole).
wine /path/to/game/game.exe

As it was said, on default Wine doesn't show logs and error messages, so it's highly advised to run programs in terminal, even if they're working fine (just in case, if you'll got performance problems or incompabilities). Besides of patching game to no-cd version don't forget to get proper dll's, I don't know the details about this certain game, but installing stuff like .NET updates or DirectX could help sometimes.

@telinit maybe say right, but it's not legal...

Probably your DVD label and id isn't recognized in WINE.
Please run winecfg, in  tab "Disks" add new virtual drive, click "(show) advanced" and enter label and orginal DVD volume ID.

Ok, I've achieved... nothing.
I'm a noob, I know.
1) Can I put into terminal a path to desktop icon to run it through there, or should I figure out where the proper file is? I Tried: Wine/home/Jsmith/Desktop/Fifa09...
2)Installing a crack doesn't seam a bad idea... do I look for a special crack for linux or any crack will do as long as I run it in wine?
3)About that virtual rom I stuck on  " and enter label and orginal DVD volume ID". Can someone translate that into English? What is a label and volume ID?
Anyway, thanks for the help so far guys, Im hoping for more of your thoughts.

1) Probably shortcut is in Your GNOME Menu too.
You can't run shortcut. You have to run EXE file - you have to put for eg.
wine "/home/user_dir/.wine/.drive_c/Program Files/FIFA09/fifa09.exe"
Tip: ".wine" is hidden folder in your home directory.

3)
Label - it is volume name, for eg. you can label DVD before you record something on DVD - "MY_CD", "FIFA09" etc.
Volume ID it's (maybe)  unique for product (FIFA 09) -  "XABC-1234-ACD" or "AAS12314333ASA" or something like this.
