Witam. Mam taki problem. Zainstalowalem sobie linuxa na swoim laptopie i problem polega na tym ze system chyba mi nie obsluguje kontrolera dysku SATA. Z tego co widze po pracy systemu kazde uruchomienie jakiejkolwiek aplikacji dlugo trwa i strasznie procesy jada po procesorze do tego stopnia ze dwa rdzenie wykorzystuje prawie po 100%. Jak skompilować jadro zeby ustawic zgodne sterowniki do obslugi dysku, tak zeby normalnie pracowal.

Na temat takiego mniemania trudno cokolwiek powiedzieć. Rozumiem, że jeśli taki top pokazuje duże wartości wa (iowait), to można uczepić się do działania dysku czy kontrolera. Zerknąłbym też na iotop.

Proponowałbym przyjrzeć się, co w dmesg piszczy na temat pracy kontrolera, a w międzyczasie poszukam (również ku własnemu przypomnieniu) jakieś praktyczniejsze polecenie pokazujące, ile przybywa przerwań procesora na tenże kontroler w jednostce czasu.

Na początek można i tak:

Podejrzewam ze nie jest wlaczony jakis sterownik w jajku systemu. Nie wiem jak znalesc odpowiedni sterownik tudziez modul zeby prace aplikacji jechaly po dysku a nie procesorze.

Może na początek: dlaczego zainstalowałeś tak stare jądro? Może zamiast wnikania, lepiej od razu wypróbować na nowym? Wersja 2.6.23 (choć Twoja jest poprawioną sprzed roku) ma już prawie dwa lata.

Bo jestem lewy z linuxa i uzywam wersji ktora stworzyl sobie moj kumpel. Troche nad nim juz siedze ale jeszcze nigdy nie robilem tak doglebnych rzeczy. Po za tym wiem ze u niego ta wersja jajka chodzi z dyskiem sata bardzo dobrze. Wiec podejrzewam ze u mnie tez sie da a po za tym nie chcialbym zmieniac jadra bo boje sie ze cos pojdzie nie tak i strace dane.

No wlasnie nie bardzo. Mam juz system który mniej wiecej jest juz skonfigurowany pod moja firme i nie chcialbym jakos specjalnie w nim grzebac. CHodzi mi tylko o ustawienie tych steronikow i tyle.

Z tego co widzę to płyta główna jest Asusa, przynajmniej specyfikacja bardzo podobna do mojej...

W jajku od 2.6.28 domyślnie są włączone wszystkie sterowniki potrzebne do poprawnej pracy systemu na tej płycie (poza kartą sieciową)...

Jak chcesz, mogę podesłać Ci swoje jajko, chociaż niekoniecznie musi ono działać...

Wydaje mi się, czy masz macierz raid? Może to ona jest powodem tych problemów?

Komp to jest dokładnie laptop Asustek S96S tak ze raida fizycznie nie ma chyba ze jest wlaczona opcja taka. Co do jajka to nawet jak mi przeslesz to mem ryzyko czy faktycznie zadziala no i nie wiem czy sobie poradze ze zmiana jego na inna wersje.

Mam tu ASmobile (nie licencjonowany ASUS) S96SP na Kubuntu 9.04 (kernel 2.6.28) i chodzi w porządku poza tym że kamera internetowa nie działa :( ale po prostu jeszcze się za nią nie brałem. Poza tym co do obsługi hardwaru nie mam zastrzeżeń. Na Kubuntu 8.04 (kernel 2.6.28) też działał w porządku.  

Dwie sprawy:

Podmiany kernela  na niestandardowy, np. z nowszej serii, dla laika to kiepski pomysł bo ewentualne poprawki (w tym bezpieczeństwa) będzie trzeba nakładać ręcznie. Zmiana dystrybucji na nowszą to zdecydowanie lepszy pomysł. Ubuntu 8.04 LTS będzie wspierany do kwietnia 2011 więc raz postawisz i będziesz miał spokój na ponad 2 lata a nie rok z "hakiem".  

Twoje problemy wcale nie muszą oznaczać problemu z sterownikami sata.
